Learn how to use Veeam cloud connect for instant VM recovery which enables rapid restoration of virtual machines from cloud backups, ensuring minimal downtime and business
Veeam Instant Recovery with Cloud Connect Repository
Case: Is Veeam able to perform instant recovery from a Cloud Connect repository?
If so, how does that work? Does it download the VM, and then mount it from local storage? Or does it extract the VM directly from the cloud and mount it? Trying to wrap my head around the process as I've only performed instant recovery from local sources thus far.

Veeam Backup & Replication provides cloud repository as a service and disaster recovery as a service to its tenants.
With Veeam cloud connect instant VM recovery, business can minimize recovery time and ensure that they are back up and running almost immediately after a failure or disaster. Then this article will offer detailed guide of restoring from cloud connect provider, facilitating efficient disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
π‘Note that Veeam Cloud Connect supports instant recovery to VMware vSphere only. Other platforms are not supported as an instant recovery target.
To perform Instant Recovery:
1. In the SP backup console, launch the Instant Recovery to VMware vSphere wizard.
To select multiple backups, press and hold the [CTRL] key, and then click or right-click the necessary backups.
2. In the displayed window, click Yes to confirm that the tenant will be disabled during Instant Recovery.
3. Follow the steps of the Instant Recovery to VMware vSphere wizard.
The instant recovery procedure for tenant backups is similar to the same procedure in the regular Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure. The difference is that you cannot recover tenant backups to their original location — Instant Recovery in the Veeam Cloud Connect infrastructure is performed to a VMware vSphere VM on the SP virtualization host. Thus, in this scenario the Instant Recovery to VMware vSphere wizard does not include the Restore Mode step.
