Scenario

My iPod Touch storage is full but it is not

So I have an iPod Touch 7th Generation running with iOS 13. Last week, I get a message saying my iPod Storage is full. But when I connect it with my computer, iTunes shows there is 488 MB available space on the iPod? Why?

- Question from discussion.apple.com

iPod is a pocket-sized music player created by Apple. You can transfer music from PC to iPod and enjoy them wherever you go. And now the iPod Touch is the only iPod model that sells on the official website. With the A serial chip, you can use it to take photos, enjoy music, play games, and visit sites as an iPhone does.

But with year of use, you will easily get the iPod storage full notification, especially if you use old models, like iPod Shuffle/classic/Nano. For example, the iPod Classic has only up to 160GB of storage space.

Why iPod storage is full when iTunes shows it's not?

In some cases, like the scenario, if you connect your device with a computer, you might notice there are hundreds of MB or several GB left on your iPod. It is because an iPod needs 2-6 GBs of available space to maintain the functionality. So sometimes, even your iPod contains some free space it will also tell the storage is full.

Note: The steps to check iPod Touch memory: 1. Go to “Settings” > “General” 2. Tap “Usage”. Then you will see how many available spaces are left on your device.
