How to Create and Restore Arcserve Instant VM Step by Step
Arcserve instant VM recovery enables you to easily protect data for recovery, even in the event of a disaster.
Two Arcserve Instant Recovery Options for VMs
Arcserve UDP offers two immediate recovery options: Instant Virtual Machine (IVM) and Virtual Standby (VSB).
Instant Virtual Machine (IVM):
- Creates a virtual machine directly from a deduplicated backup repository.
- Eliminates the need for pre-data conversion and downtime.
- Provides instant access to applications and data.
Virtual Standby (VSB):
- Pre-populates virtual machine disks after each incremental backup.
- Converts recovery points to a compatible virtual disk format.
- Supports recovery to various hypervisors (vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV) and cloud platforms (Google, AWS, Azure).
- Restored VMs perform as well as production VMs.
Both IVM and VSB offer rapid recovery capabilities, but VSB provides additional flexibility with pre-populated disks and broader recovery options.
