Situation One: restore failed - error code=0x241

Problem

I'm trying to fix my friend's Acer Aspire 5552-7803 and ended up having to order a set of Recovery discs for $20. The problem is that when I try running the Restore to factory default option, it loads through the first two recovery discs, then on the third, I get an error message that says "Restore failed - Error code=0x241 (WIMApplyImage cannot apply image : Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be..." The rest is obscured by the box and you can't scroll to read it.

Tried a fresh diskpart using "clean" then "cre par pri" and then retried the default image restore and it got to about 3% of the actual install (after the three discs of copying) before failing with the error: "Restore failed - Error code=0x570 (WIMApplyImage cannot apply image : The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.)"

Solution

It may be the memory stick problem. Try removing one stick and restoring again and see what happens. If you still get the error message, then swap the remaining stick for the removed one and try again.

Situation Two: error 0xA000000E

Problem

Trying to reinstall windows on extensa 5630z with recovery media i purchased from Acer store. Reason is original hardrive failed. I pulled a hardrive from another laptop, formatted it and placed the system disk in the CD. I booted to the cd and the system disk installed windows. it then asked for the recovery disk which I inserted. The disk drive made a crunching noise and spit the disk out giving me: error 0xA000000E on reinstall recovery disk 1 extensa 5630z. I removed the hardrive, reformatted it, checked it for errors and found none. Reinstalled and tried again with the same result. The cd drive is working because it loads the system disk. If i put the second recovery disk in, it spits it out and asks for the first...

Solution

Wipe the existing partitions from the hard disk drive, repartition it and retry. If there are import data on the hard disk, move them out or make a backup of them before deletion.

Situation Three: restoration failed - error code=1005

Problem

Yesterday, my Acer Aspire5532 randomly crashed. When it restarted, it wouldn't boot in any mode. Now i'm trying to reinstall windows 7 using acer's eRecovery management. After choosing to completely restore system to factory defaults, I can choose the partition, and the restore progress begins. TAs it begins, I receive the message: Restoration failed - Error code=1005(the volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.)

Error Code 1005

Solution

Reformat the hard drive, have the drivers for the hard disk ready to install via USB drive... boot to USB install the Drivers, then reboot and restore.

Situation Four: restore failed - error code= 0x45d

Problem

I have a Acer Aspire One D255. I'm trying to restore it to it's original factory process. But whenever I try to restore it fails at about 14% and says "Restore failed - Error code= 0x45d (WIMApplyImage cannot apply image: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.)"

Error Code 0x45d
