How to add mailboxes for email backup in AOMEI Backupper
AOMEI Backupper supports backing up emails from the mail server. It supports most mainstream mailboxes, including Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud Mail, AOL Mail, Mail.ru, Yandex, Zoho Mail, and so on.
Steps to Add Mailboxes
Download and install AOMEI Backupper on a Windows computer and ensure network connectivity. It is a paid feature to back up emails, so please upgrade to AOMEI Backupper paid editions.
Then, please follow the steps below to add mailboxes and back up email data.
Enter the Email Backup module
1. In the left tab page, select “Backup” followed by “Email Backup”.
Add Email Data
2. Click the “Add Email Data” button.
3. Then, click “Add Mailbox” on the pop-up to add one or multiple mailboxes that you’d like to back up.
Fill in Email Credentials
4. Fill in the related email credentials of the mailbox:
Email Account: Please continue to type into the mailbox address.
Password: Please type the password of your mailbox in here. Note, some mailbox types require the use of an app password, such as gmail.
IMAP Server: IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol, a type of Internet protocol. It is used to access emails stored on the server. Its main function is that mail clients can get mail messages from mail servers and download them through IMAP protocol. The imap server for this option will automatically match the user's mailbox format.
Port: The mailbox port for this option is also automatically matched to the user's mailbox format.
Proxy Settings(optional)
5. You can enable “Proxy Settings” to set the Proxy based on your needs.
Use System Proxy: It will use the system proxy you have enabled under the network settings of this computer.
Use a Custom Proxy: You can individually configure your proxy.
Server Type: HTTP/SOCKS4/SOCKS5
Server: proxy address
Port: proxy port
User ID: your proxy account
Password: your proxy password
Complete Mailbox Addition
6. Click “OK” and then your mailbox has been added successfully. You can unfold it to check emails.
Start backup immediately
After adding mailboxes, you can select the email data you want to back up, and select a local or network storage path to perform a backup. For more details about the backup settings, please refer to here.
FAQs
Q: Failed to connect to xxx mailbox, Please check your email account information and try again.
A: For email accounts that enable two-factor authentication (such as Google account), please enable and use the app password as the password to add.
Q: Adding enterprise email failed.
A: Please confirm if the enterprise email has enabled IMAP protocol, needs to configure special identity authentication (such as OAuth2.0), and if IP access is restricted.
