How to Use VSS in AOMEI Backupper?
VSS is short for Volume Shadow Copy Service. This technology allows you to continue working while the backup is in progress. If you don’t use VSS, the program will automatically use the built-in technique instead of live backup.
When creating a backup of a virtual or physical machine with running applications, especially applications that intensively write data to files and databases, ensuring backup data consistency is essential. Having consistent backup data facilitates recoveries without data corruption or delays. So this service is highly recommended.
- We highly recommend you to use the VSS service in a system/partition/disk backup.
- For file backup, the Microsoft VSS is the default service and it is unable to change.
